A Note From Cortney

Everything I’ve built... from TONEpilates to my home, my gardens, and even the food I make... is rooted in one intention:  to live with energy, grace, and purpose.

I founded TONE in my early twenties... it originally stood for Trying On New Energy... and it perfectly described what I was doing at that time: helping people rediscover themselves through movement, fashion, and lifestyle.

I worked as a fitness and fashion consultant, blending my love for wellness, design, and helping others feel their best... inside and out.

Years later, when I became certified in Pilates and built my boutique studio and OnDemand library, that same philosophy evolved into TONEpilates... a space where movement meets mindfulness, and where small, intentional changes create lasting transformation. Today, my work extends beyond the studio... supporting clients locally and worldwide through intentional, accessible movement and mindful living.

Movement Has Always Been at the Heart

My love for movement began long before I became an instructor.

After going through three knee reconstructions starting at just sixteen, I spent years in rehabilitation, learning the power of mindful movement and patience. The physical therapists who guided me back to strength inspired me to do the same for others, to help people reconnect to their bodies and feel like themselves again.

That experience continues to shape everything I do today.

I love helping people get back to the place where they feel their best... stronger, more confident, and more connected to themselves.

During that time, I studied Psychobiology, a field that explores the powerful connection between the nervous system, behavior, and the body. Alongside my education, I worked in physical therapy offices for several years after college, where I saw firsthand how intentional movement, patience, and nervous system awareness support true healing.

That foundation continues to inform how I teach today... blending mindful movement with a deep respect for how the body learns, heals, and adapts.

Movement truly is medicine... at every age and every stage.

Over the years, I’ve taught everyone from children to seniors... creating programs that meet people where they are.

  • I launched Preschool Pilates more than 16 years ago, helping children connect to their bodies through imagination and play.

  • I designed a Chair Pilates program for a Memory Care facility, bringing gentle movement and connection to those in later stages of life.

Beyond The Studio

Outside of Pilates, creativity and connection fuel me.

I’ve always been drawn to design... from fashion to interiors, from watercolor to the way a home feels when light hits the walls just right.

In my late twenties, while completing my Pilates certification, I also worked for Gucci, styling and dressing celebrities and high-profile clients. That experience deepened my appreciation for detail, quality, and artistry... and it shaped the refined, yet grounded aesthetic I bring into everything I create today.

I’ve always had an artistic approach to life... seeing beauty in the process, not just the final product. Whether I’m designing a studio space, curating a wardrobe, or planting a new garden bed, I love finding harmony in color, texture, and energy.

I’m also a natural problem solver, always looking for creative ways to bring ideas to life and make things work beautifully and efficiently.

I love decorating, gardening, and cultivating spaces that feel peaceful, grounded, and inspiring. I also love spending time out in nature... exploring new places, going paddle boarding, walking along the beach, and soaking in the beauty of each season.

Whether I’m in my garden, on the water, or gathered around a table sharing food I’ve created, I cherish the time I spend with friends and family. Those connections and experiences are what fill me up and keep me inspired in everything I do.

Mindful Living

Over the years, I’ve learned how important it is to take care of myself... not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually.

Every morning, I begin with a self-care routine that helps me center, recharge, and show up for others.

For me, wellness isn’t about perfection... it’s about creating space for the things that make you feel most alive.

The Heart of TONE

TONE has always been more than a brand... it’s a philosophy... a way of moving through life with intention, creativity, and compassion.

At the heart of TONE is a blend of science, intuition, and compassion... honoring both the nervous system and the human experience.

Whether through Pilates, design, or simple everyday rituals, both in the studio and online, I believe in helping others find their own way of Trying On New EnergyWith over two decades of teaching experience, my approach to Pilates is grounded in clarity, accessibility, and deep support.

Thank you for being here... I’m so happy to share this journey with you.
